Building Urban Growers

• Open kids ages 9 to 14
• Kid's plant and individualize their own garden plots
• Six week program starting right after 4th of July
• Runs three days a week/three hour sessions
• Program segments: 
  • Gardening & healthy food lesson
  • Arts & crafts  
  • Healthy snacks 
  • Physical games and activities
  • Christ centered lessons & mentorship
  • Rewards for successful gardens and attendance

Program Attributes

• Kid’s learned that they are created in Gods image, loved by their creator (self worth, self esteem), they have value in God’s eyes
• Food and nutrition education
• Provides safe space for kids during largely unsupervised months
• Creates an environment rich for relationship building
• Provides them with a sense of accomplishment
• Fosters creativity
